The StudioPress Genesis framework theme settings make it easy for you to add a custom logo. The Genesis theme settings gives you the option to display the logo as dynamic text or an image logo. In addition, you can widgetize the right header space to add more unique content to your blog or website.
When Studiopress released there Genesis framework, they wanted to offer features that make it simple to set up your site exactly the way you wanted it. With the theme options you can make those adjustments as simple as selecting from a drop-down box.
By adding a custom logo, you brand your business and maintain an awesome looking website. Here is how to do it.
To edit your logo settings from the WordPress dashboard, go into your Genesis Theme Settings > General Settings.

The theme settings allows you to select dynamic text or image logo for your logo.
How to Upload your Logo with Genesis
Uploading your custom logo into your Studiopress Genesis Framework is easy to do. Here is a video showing you step by step. Just upload the image in your cPanel and adjust your settings to display your custom logo.

I really want to find a WP design, but I haven’t seen anything I like yet. Seen anything that represents technology well? I will put this in my future projects folder.
I tried to follow your instructions but it did not work and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I am using the “Pretty Young Thing” genesis child theme from studio press. I followed your steps (saving the default logo, renaming it, uploading the logo I want to use and adjusting the setting on my dashboard) but my logo is still not appearing on my site. I noticed there was no file named “logo.png” that came with the theme, the logo is named “header_logo.png.” I tried naming the logo I wanted to use “header_logo.png” and “logo.png” but neither have worked so far. What am I doing wrong! This is so frustrating!
Brittany, u set the thesis settings to … Just noticed a fault it the general setting pic. Make aure the setting show logo image and not dynamic text. Let me know if it works. If not, i will check out ur site tonight and let u know.
Hi Christine
I tried to follow your video of uploading a logo to my site… I went into the themes and got a bit stuck, as I couldn’t find the child theme I am using, so somehow this does not show up on my Bluehost account. The Genesis, Lifestyle, Twentyeleven and Twentyten shows up, but not the one I suppose I should use in order to change something. I don’t know how I originally added the text where the logo is supposed to be (Ithink I followed some of your directions)… I have a logo that is in a HTML format, that I want to put in the place instead of the text… the only way I can add the logo right now is by using the widget sidebar and it’s totally misplaced… do you have any further directions of how to get it in there…links, tips? thanks a lot!
Hanne
Hi Hanne, RawEvolution… very cool! Sorry I the delayed response. Lifestyle is the child theme that you are using.
What is the html code you are trying to place?

It will be more helpful to diagnosis the needed.

Thanks for getting back…
I have this HTML code
I had to put it into the Genesis header & Footer area, but I actually want it in my child theme….
– replacing the blank area that I have above my links… I just can’t figure out how this works… would appreciate if you could lead me in the right direction here… I tried changing the setting for image or dynamic text (which is in Genesis as well)… ???
reply didnt post my html code – will try again
Hanne, try in your css file …
old:
/***** Header ********************/
#header {
background: url(header_blank.png);
width: 960px;
height: 100px;
}
try:
/***** Header ********************/
#header {
background: url (“http://www.logoworks.com/website-design.html”);
width: 960px;
height: 100px;
}
or if that doesn’t work, go with:
/***** Header ********************/
#header {
background-image: url (“http://www.logoworks.com/website-design.html”);
width: 960px;
height: 100px;
}

I followed the steps in your video and the website will still show the old Education theme logo instead of the logo I’m trying to upload. I renamed the new logo to logo.png and it’s still not working. Any ideas?
Also do you know how to change the color of the primary navigation bar from grey to another color by any chance?
Thank you!
did you make sure to go into Genesis general settings and change the drop down from text to image?
If so…
did you make sure to label your file the exact same? I am notorious for saving logos in either .png or .jpg and forgetting to note the right extension.
Then, check your css code to make sure it matches what you uploaded.
then try clearning your cache in internet tools option.
have you done all this and still have an issue?
as for the grey during hover..that is because your .png file is grey. You could re edit the file with GIMP – its free.
#nav li a:hover {
background: url(images/navhov.png) top right;
color: #FFFFFF;
}
as for the grey inbetween. looks like the color codes need to be altered:
#nav li li a, #nav li li a:link, #nav li li a:visited {
background: #8B7B6E;
color: #FFFFFF;
width: 138px;
font-size: 12px;
margin: 0;
padding: 6px 10px 6px 10px;
border-left: 1px solid #A89B8F;
border-right: 1px solid #A89B8F;
border-bottom: 1px solid #A89B8F;
position: relative;
}
please be sure to back up your files before making modifications. I even like to copy/paste/save the original file in notepad. Just in case something goes wrong.

I take that back…the grey line in between is caused by your .png file needing to be edited here:
#nav .wrap {
background: url(images/navline.png) left no-repeat;
width: 960px;
margin: 0 auto 0;
padding: 11px 0 10px 0;
overflow: hidden;
}

Hello Christine very nice tutorial thanks so much for sharing this info with us…
Hi Christine. I’m hoping you can help me with something. I just purchased the pretty young thing child-theme from StudioPress and I was hoping you might know how I can get the color options to show? They did have color options in my Genesis Framework but they disappeared when I uploaded pretty young thing. Also is there a way to display my posts as content instead of as excerpts?
If you could send me an email with advice I’d be forever in your debt. I’ve tried and tried to use their forum and have even emailed them about it but no luck there.
Thank you so much,
Terri

Hi Christine,
I’m trying to upload a custom logo that I created in a logo design program. I followed your video tutorial exactly. It didn’t load. I cleared my cache. It still didn’t load, Now all I’m getting is a big white header filling in the entire top above the main nav bar. Can you please help me. I’m so frustrated and very new at this. I loaded the file through the bluehost Cpanel. Renamed the original logo_default. Changed dynamic text to image logo in the settings, checked the CSS file to make sure the file name was logo.png. I’m lost. Is my file too big, not the right size? Does it have to be photoshop? Thanks.
I followed your video to edit my header and add my company name’s text. I changed everything in Photoshop, uploaded the new image and nothing changed when I saved it. Did I miss a step? I’m using the Vintage theme.
They should add a upload logo feature in the next version, this was very basic thing most theme developers include, I wonder why Genesis team ignored it. or maybe there could be some smart reason behind it? When I first installed the child theme, I couldn’t find any way to change the logo, and there were no good articles on this topic at that time, so I decided to opt a different theme, lately I found this article by chance. Let me give it a try this time. But anyway I like my current theme

I’m using the Manhattan child theme for Genesis. When I drilled down to pads file there is no logo.psd. There are only the following: button.psd, header.psd, nav.psd, and navline.psd. I’ve seen header.png in the CSS so I tried to download it but received this message: failed to open “/header.psd” for writing. I followed the rest of the tutorial, renamed the logo.png in the image file, and uploaded my file as logo.png, but it did not work. Should my file be named header.png instead of logo.png? The orginal header.png file is a thin, vertical black bar that is the header color so not sure I should be replacing it. My logo is white script with transparent background.
There are two areas of the CSS that refer to the header area,
/***** Header ********************/
#header {
background: url(images/header.png);
height: 120px;
}
AND
/***** Image Header – Partial Width ********************/
.header-image #header #title-area {
/* background: url(images/logo.png) left top no-repeat; */
}
Christine, please disregard my post. I found an alternate method to post my logo.
